LucidWitness: Increasing Public-Awareness of Developmental Trauma

Photo © Daun Kauffman

LucidWitness now includes an "Index" to blogposts that increase awareness around trauma and development.

The new index provides links to excellent resources and references, as well as a narrative series of short (true) stories meant to be shared (one or two at a time) in social media.

Growing awareness of the impacts of developmental trauma, with an emphasis on the intersection of developmental trauma and public education, is the overarching goal.

LucidWitness is designed to share with a broad, general public audience.

Individual posts help boost awareness and understanding of the brain science, effective education, the altered, defensive behaviors and classroom impacts.  The posts also highlight work that is being done around the country on trauma-informed practices in schools, social services and courts.

Click HERE for the LucidWitness Index and to access the series of  awareness-generating posts.

Hi, Sandy: I asked the good folks that manage our terrific Hoop.la platform about this, and they say we CAN print title photos. Here's their answer:

It is possible to print those title images, but the ability and way in which you do so will vary by browser. The title image for blog posts is actually displayed as a background image. As such, when printing from your browser, you'll want to make sure to include background images:

  • Via "Background graphics" checkbox in Chrome
  • Via "Print Background Images" checkbox in Firefox
  • Via "Print backgrounds" checkbox in Safari
  • Via "Print Background Colors and Images" checkbox in the Page setup...dialog in Internet Explorer

Note that it looks like it's not possible currently to print background images in Microsoft's new Edge browser.

I hope this helps!

Hi Jane; thanks so much for your efforts to get the information I needed. It did indeed help!

At first, I assumed I'd need to change a setting in Chrome's 'preferences,' but eventually I discovered that the 'print background images' box is - right on the page I open us in order to print a page/article... ha... I have to keep reminding myself that my high ACEs score probably has something to do with why I more often than not assume that any problem I encounter in my life - must be more complex and difficult than it turns out to be. At least I don't automatically go into 'catastrophizing' mode as often as I used to! That's definitely progress!  ;-)

Hi, Sandy: Yes, you can print the blog post just by doing a Command-P (on Mac, and whatever the print function is on PC), but, as you note, the title photo doesn't appear. I'll ask our platform gurus whether they can add that feature.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Cheers, Jane

I greatly appreciate the resources that acesconnection provides me every day. I do have a request - I can never print copies of posts that include the often powerful photos that accompany the posts. I'm hoping your web designer might consider adding that feature...thanks!

Hi Sandy,

Thank you for the suggestion.  I often have the same wish for option with/without photo(s).  In this case, I'm not sure about ACEsConnection,  but I do know that if you click thru to the original post at LucidWitness.com, you will find a "Print button" at end of original post included with other "buttons" for Facebook, Twitter, Etc.  I hope that is what you are looking for ?

Thank you for posting this, Daun. AND, for the links

Thanks Robert.  We all need each other to help grow awareness (and support) for the development trauma crisis we all are witnessing....
