Despair over devastation. We need help.

"Diasaster Fatigue" seems to be settling in for "mainlanders", just when help may be most needed on the islands...

It can be hard for us outsiders to battle "disaster fatigue." Still, 21 days after the disaster, which was well predicted 10 days before that (a month ago, in total) -- and we can not figure it out? People are still waiting hours in line for 'food': "What I got was 3 bottles of water and 4 cans of Pringles." Most with no sanitation, no power, no running water, no cell communication, one thousand, five-hundred roads out  -- "What are you going to do today, t.o.d.a.y.?" is never answered.

No start date for children to go back to school.  No start date for light, nor electrical power.  No start date for safe water.  This is the 'new normal' --  presently indefinite.

Speaking for my own family and neighbors, unable (still) to connect to other relatives on the island.  It is hard.

This is still jarring... can you provide us with any update on what services have been made available? It is now approximately six months since you posted this. What services do you  think are still needed?

Thanks for asking Robin,

To my knowledge there has been no organized or coordinated effort island-wide.  There have been intermittent faith-based efforts on an isolated basis.

Still jarring....  lack of empathy, lack of support.  Out of sight,  out of mind.  Infrastructure outside San Juan still a patchwork especially in Utuado.    Can't even claim the power is on yet.   Institutionalized racism.   Can you imagine any of the above being true for 2 weeks in NY  or CA or MA or TX ?  Approaching 180 days in PR...
