If they can do it, so can we! Resources for system change.

I don't know about the rest of you but it seems every day now I open up the ACEsC page and get excited by the new developments being made in the area, and new resources becoming available -- video resources for attachment?! Do you realise how much you'd have to pay the "PopPsych" pages for that??! Holy gosh!! There're so many good things becoming available. Coming from a country where some people have been struggling for years to "get things going" it's literally stunning.

Yesterday I posted in the Ask the Community pages if people how seen what is a marvellous accomplishment for this country -- a review of ACEs activities being carried out in several countries at the present time. The authors -- a clinical psychologist and a management consultant, as part of the activities for the International Initiative for Mental Health Initiative have produced the report -- see attached.

The authors say "Please note it is not a definitive academic literature search, but rather a very quick snapshot of some recent examples of national or state policies, reports and activities across national agencies in the eight IIMHL countries. We hope this report will allow speedy access to information and activities across the eight countries. " Moreover: " If there is a major policy document missing we are happy to include it at any time". It's rare for such reports to become freely available -- and certainly very rare for such material to be considered from such a "high" source -- the authors also provide consulting services for Te Pou o te Whakaaro Nui (Maori language) -- the largest provider of training resources for those working in the mental health, addiction and disability services in New Zealand. It's an awesome achievement, in more ways than one -- it's 188 pages long for a start. People in those sectors in New Zealand, and the population generally owe the authors a huge amount of thanks for their work. Now people can see what things can be achieved for people with ACEs histories, and their communities, and become encouraged, maybe emboldened to learn from the report and become involved in making much needed changes -- if YOU guys can do it, why don't we all (in New Zealand especially) become involved in helping those changes come about!
