Second Annual Philadelphia Trauma Training Conference
Preventing Childhood Trauma and its Impact across the Lifespan: An Interprofessional Agenda for Providers, Advocates, Policy Makers, and Community Members
The Second Annual Philadelphia Trauma Training Conference, to be held July 23-26, 2018 at Thomas Jefferson University East Falls Campus in Philadelphia will provide an intensive, collaborative training experience to providers, educators and leaders across health, education, and social service disciplines, as well as to community members invested in the health of their families, neighborhoods, and cities. The overarching aim of the conference is to grow and strengthen trauma-informed systems, communities, and workforces in Philadelphia and beyond, and ultimately to improve the health of our children, families, and communities.
The conference planning committee is requesting submissions for 90-minute workshop sessions. Proposals should focus on one of the primary aims of the conference: (1) Preventing incidences of childhood trauma; (2) Mitigating the impacts of trauma exposure across the lifespan; and/or (3) Preventing vicarious trauma and supporting a stable, healthy workforce.
Sessions must be congruent with the conference theme and have implications for community-based trauma-focused work. The conference aims to enhance competencies in interprofessional practice. Sessions that have an interprofessional focus are strongly encouraged. Presenters will be asked to identify if their workshop proposal best fits programming for (1) providers seeking advanced trauma competencies and knowledge, (2) participants seeking foundational trauma training, or (3) community and family members.
