To get a school community on board, it is critical to have leadership buy in. A school leader has a great deal of input into what strands of professional development are provided for teachers and staff when and for how long. Weekly hour-long professional development sessions in small groups reinforced by one-on-one coaching sessions would be a great place to start.

Now if you could take it one step beyond your response and spell out "carve
out the time", I would be ever so grateful; preferably in terms amenable to
my administrator. Thanks

 Thanks for your question, Judi.

In our view, creating positive environments and relationships isn’t just a nice-to-have, it is a prerequisite for children to be able to perform to the best of their abilities. With effective leadership, sustained professional development and integrated student supports, It is possible to build teaching and learning environments that accelerate healthy development and academic achievement while measuring progress at the school, classroom and student levels.

We believe all adults in the school building need to develop capacities that support  a healthy environment and trusting relationships. Understandably, it can be difficult for teachers, administrators and school staff to carve out time dedicated to environments and relationships because of the pressures of the school day, standardized testing and other time crunches -- but the effort is well worth it.
