Agreed. Staying silent supports the horrific injustices of racism.  Ava DuVernay’s (Selma) new Netflix documentary, “13th, which is named after the 13th Amendment to the Constitution further analyzes the criminalization of African Americans. Through statistics, archival footage and interviews with figures like academic Henry Louis Gates Jr. and activists Bryan Stevenson and Angela Davis, “13th,” draws a stark line between the institution of slavery and the high incarceration rate of black men and women in the U.S. in 2016.
