Community Connections: Pathways to Safety, Healing, and Wellness (Chicago, Illinois)

Communities offer a rich tapestry of ways to foster collective resilience. Community Connections will highlight some of the ways community groups and networks are building positive relationships and places of belonging and contribution. Learn about creative and innovative approaches that weave together arts, block clubs, youthdevelopment programs, community gardens, and story-telling with schools, health services, law-enforcement agencies, libraries, and community organizations.

The Illinois ACEs Response Collaborative is thrilled to welcome national expert Dr. Renee Boynton-Jarrett (Dr. Renee on ˜PBS "The Raising of America) as our keynote speaker for the event. She will discuss how her work both as a pediatrician and community activist promotes resilience among families and communities.

The conference will focus on:

  • Unleashing community capacity to protect children and youth and empower residents to increase whole families' overall social and physical health, safety, and community connection.
  • Examining ACEs through an equity lens, including breaking down the many ways that structural inequities impact specific communities and the ways that they build resiliency.
  • Learning how hospitals, schools, public safety, and community organizations are partnering with community residents to improve health, safety, and well-being.
