The Socio-Political Context of the U.S. - Mexico Border (Binational Social Work Conference)

CECUT - "El Cubo" Event Hall

The Socio-Political Context of the U.S. - Mexico Border (Binational Social Work Conference)

The committee is comprised of students from San Diego State University, School of Social Work and Escuela de Trabajo Social Tijuana, as well as social work professionals from both sides of the border. This conference is our first step in creating a binational human bridge of social work students and social service professionals.

The bridge will start at the venue Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) where:

Acclaimed author of Enriquez’s Journey, Sonia Nazario (US Keynote), will share highlights of her National Bestseller.

Dra. Maria Dolores Paris Pambo (Mexico Keynote) will speak about human rights, inter-ethnic relations, culture and migration.

Las Hormigas Bordadoras de Tanivet will share how they became the creative chroniclers of their loved ones’ journey to the U.S.

Panels from the US and México, comprised of academics, activists and providers will spotlight the intricate world of migration.

Short films, poetry and art about life on either side of the border.

These are just some of the highlights.

Our hope is you will leave the Binational Social Work Conference with a better understanding of the Socio-political impact of the US-Mexico border.
