Webinar Series Description
Successful Continuum of Care implementation requires counties to collaborate across their child welfare and behavioral health agencies. This three-part webinar series includes an overview and focus on the need for using a trauma-informed care focus in working with children in the child welfare system.
Presenter
Kristin Dempsey, LMFT, LPCC, is a Senior Associate at CIBHS specializing in workforce development and evidence-based practices. She has worked with youth in a clinic, school, and private practice settings for over 20 years. Kristin has trained with Dr. Bruce Perry and the Child Trauma Academy staff in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics and has consulted with programs and systems on creating and maintaining trauma informed systems of care.
- Attendees will identify three methods to address common behavioral health issues seen in child welfare settings such as behavioral issues, early onset psychosis, and substance use disorders.
- Participants will be able to distinguish the difference between compassion fatigue, burnout, and vicarious trauma.
- Participants will identify two methods for self care to prevent burnout, compassion fatigue and/or vicarious trauma
Who Should Attend
County Child Welfare staff, Group Home staff, Behavioral Health clinicians, Family Partners, Parent Partners and others involved in Continuum of Care Reform implementation.
