Visionary Atlantan grows community model for trauma-informed education with a housing solution

Real estate developer Marjy Stagmeier was sifting through tenant applications for an apartment complex she had purchased in Atlanta and noticed something disturbing: Many of the applicants were single mothers making $8/hour. “I wondered how these women could they afford to live on so little, with the cost of housing, childcare and the daily needs of life being so high. Seeing how little they made moved me to decide, then and there, not to ever raise the rent,” says Marjy.

Humboldt County Jail speaker series aims to inspire inmates (kiem-tv.com)

The Humboldt County Correctional Facility is trying to inspire their inmates by introducing them to speakers who have changed their own lives. The Hope and Resiliency Speaker Series is a volunteer based program that invites influential community members to come share their stories of redemption. Epigenetics? What does that REALLY mean?

As a health care professional with a passion for Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) I was having difficulty wrapping my mind around the emerging ACEs related science. Take epigenetics for example, what does epigenetics really mean? And, how did my grandmother's health influence my health today? As a parent, have my lived experiences influence the wellbeing of my children? These questions and more were laying dormant in my mind, sort of like an itch I wanted to scratch, but could not reach.
