Alternatives to Violence Project: experience the gifts!

I've been thinking a lot lately about the full spectrum of trauma and resilience. Certainly our internal dialogue, what we tell ourselves, is near the root of other communication and actions. Can we shed light on this "intrapersonal communication" to help heal trauma and support resilience? How do we access what's in our heads? One way is to ask ourselves deep questions and speak our truths in a safe environment. This is one of the ways Alternatives to Violence Project brings humanity and community to light.

I invite you to experience AVP:

-a mini-workshop, just a taste, at Hanna Boys Center March 23 (called "Violence Prevention"):  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/v...-tickets-43219074415

-or a basic AVP 2-day workshop in Santa Rosa March 17-18:

All AVP facilitators are volunteer.  No one is turned away for inability to pay.

I'd like to tell you about my AVP experience to give a picture of one person's transformation: At my first workshop I initially felt uneasy, probably because I was out of my "certain, compassionate, giving-person" self. Other aspects of my Self were coming to light, which eventually enabled more honest and sincere relationships, individual and collective. A huge heart-opening happened, touching my entire life and enabling a new and more truly compassionate awareness. As an example, one day while driving in heavy traffic I experienced intense oneness with all of the other drivers. Amazing for bliss to be there, in the middle of the 580! It is all an ongoing process, and of course I feel I have a long way to go, but I'm so glad to be expanding my awareness. AVP is an excellent adjunct to ACEs/resilience work. Hope to see you in AVP!
