Child-Friendly Space Offering Transitional Support and Relief

CHILD-FRIENDLY SPACE UPDATE:

"Hello!

You are receiving this email because either you or someone you know has been greatly affected by the recent wildfires.

I am writing this email from a facility that has graciously opened its doors and allowed The School Box Project  to create a child-friendly space to provide support and relief for children of all ages with various special needs. The operation will be framed with trauma-informed care and Universal Designed Learning principles in mind.

The facility is located at: 5621 Skylane Blvd, Santa Rosa CA

The facility is currently receiving donations and the Schoolbox Project is working on staffing so as to be up and running by Monday, October 16th. Operating hours will be 9 am - 5 pm.

We are hoping to help ANOVA students and staff who have experienced a most tragic loss. Additionally, our doors are open to any and all child who has been affected by the events of this past week.

We have the following zones /stations planned and in process of being organized:

Nurse/medication
Occupational Therapy
De-escalation zones
Quiet Zones
Sonoma County Children's Museum
Parent/Infant/Toddler space
iPad charging/hangout
Older / younger student delineation
Drop-off Zone

Qualified Behavioralists, Cognitive Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Special Education Teachers, Behavioral Aides, and other Paraprofessionals: A volunteer form will be sent out later today.

Starting Monday, SoCoSchoolRelief@gmail.com will be used primarily for organizational coordination, supply updates, funding, and clerical/administrative work.

Parents, if you have further questions or concerns, please contact Dominique at dominiques@matrixparents.org  Matrix Parents

As always, feel free to share this text and the Matrix Parents Email address with any family you know who would want access to this space.

It is important to note that we are not a school nor a child center. We are acting as a child-friendly space offering transitional support, relief, and care until schools reopen/built.

Thank you for all of your feedback and assistance! We look forward to welcoming you here and offering as much support as we can during these times. Keep an eye out for additional updates from Schoolbox Project on Facebook.

Warmly,
Shahin Pamatmat
in Collaboration with
The Schoolbox Project, Matrix Parent Network, and The Everloving Communities of Sonoma, Marin, Napa, and Solano County.
