Self-Healing Communites: Laura Porter, Scholar in Residence at Hanna Institute

Laura Porter is a co-founder of ACE Interface, former director of the Family Policy Council in Washington State, and an Associate with the Southwest and Central offices of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Center for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPT). Her expertise includes overseeing analysis and dissemination of surveillance and archival data to support decision making, and designing and facilitating processes demonstrated to improve population health, safety and productivity. Ms. Porter is committed to developing market forces in the ACE social movement sufficient to sustain the courageous leaders who are using ACE and resilience science and Building Self-Healing Communities.

We’ll discuss the health and prosperity of families in Sonoma Valley and solicit your input. What do you think are the biggest strengths of our community? What are our biggest challenges? What could change with appropriate support? Monday session will introduce the Self-Healing Communities concept and Tuesday session will share successes in other communities. Discussion at both.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Community leaders such as business owners, agency and nonprofit leadership, clergy, and law enforcement.

Meet the most prominent leader of Self-Healing Communities initiatives, Laura Porter, and discuss how you can become part of an initiative to transform the health and prosperity of families in Sonoma County.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Youth-serving professionals, including doctors, nurses, medical caseworkers, social workers, mental health clinicians, school district leaders, and others interested in public health.
