A new initiative aims to address the secondary effects of the opioid epidemic on children. The program expects to reach around 600 kids across Indiana, including here in the Evansville area. That's correct, Bob. At present, it's up to the states to include their own ACEs module in the BRFSS. Also, the people who ask the questions aren't necessarily very knowledgeable about the subject they're asking about. They follow a script to obtain mostly yes-no answers. Each year state health departments decides which modules to include in BRFSS, and they contract with people to decide whom to call (to get a representative sample of the population), and to do the phone calling.
