My apologies for this repeat post. We had some great success after our initial post, so I'm hoping to reach others as I strive to connect a few remaining first year graduate students with practicum placements. Please contact me directly if interested.
Just last year Philadelphia University launched the Community and Trauma Counseling MS Program that prepares students for the LPC credential. We offer a fully integrated trauma curriculum where the ACE Study and Urban ACES are introduced on day 1 and referred to throughout our 60 credit program. Because people are recognizing the need for trauma competencies, we have tripled in size in only one year. As the Program Director, I am seeking to partner with local agencies to train staff and bolster your organization's capacity to serve while asking for assistance in the training of our incoming students.
Our first-year students are required to complete 100 hours in the field from September 2014 through May 2015, averaging between 5 and 8 hours per week. They will be self-starters who are compassionate, reflective and consistently thinking about the impact of trauma. First year students can fill important needs in agencies including administrative support, co-facilitation, intakes, support with trainings, research, and data collection, and could eventually take on a more direct role with clients.
