2 interesting columns about Penn State child sex abuse tragedy

Here are a couple of columns that I missed. In case you did, too, they're noteworthy. Wendy Murphy, one of our network members, wrote The Need for Accurate Language in Penn State Coverage in November 2011. My profession of journalism doesn't usually do a good job of this, unfortunately, reflecting, in large part, our society's lack.

Sexual Politics at Penn State -- An Inside Look is by Kathleen Barry, a former professor at Penn State, who, in January, described the surprisingly toxic culture on campus that helped create the tragedy. She segues into a compelling review of Nickels: A Tale of Dissociation, by Christine Stark.

I am so glad that Wendy and Jane are working on this language problem.  I recently read a judicial brief regarding a child pornography case which referred to a toddler "engaged in sexual activity" with an adult, and I was so angry I wanted to tear someone's face off!  Clearly your approach is more productive.  Thanks!!!
