Free Webinar: Safety First Before Trauma Treatment

Safety must be addressed first throughout trauma treatment. This is especially the case with traumatized children and their families because the child is often more vulnerable to abuse or neglect. The FST| Family Systems Trauma Model presents the use of a safety risk scale of 1 to 5 (1= no risk; 5 = high risk) to assess current safety levels within the family. The use of what is called an FST Trauma Safety Playbook is then used if needed to realign a chaotic and disorganized family with clarity of roles and techniques to get the family unstuck, increase protective factors, and lower safety risk.

In this webinar, participants will learn:

• The timing of when and how to use a safety risk scale of 1 to 5 (1= no risk; 5 = high risk) to assess current safety levels within the family.

• How to use what is called an FST Safety Trauma Playbook if a family member self-report is a risk level of “3” or higher. A case study of a family whose children are at risk for out of home placement by CPS (child protective services) will be used to illustrate this playbook technique.

• How the FST Safety Trauma Playbook is used to realign a chaotic and disorganized family with clarity of roles will be highlighted along with when it is appropriate to do stabilization first before active trauma treatment second.

Live Q & A with the instructor is encouraged.

NOTE: Continuing education credits and attendance certificates are NOT provided for this free webinar.
