CUPS in Calgary Recognized for their Brain Science Work

As part of their involvement with the Change in Mind Initiative, a project of the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities and the Palix Foundation in Alberta, CUPs reframed their entire organization’s theory of change to align with brain science research and developed an integrated care model for families and adults living in adverse conditions.  The integrated care process is designed to build clients’ executive functioning by helping clients prioritize the problems to be addressed, developing a care plan to solve those problems, assisting with the execution of the plan, and then following up to assess how well the process worked and what else can be done, if needed to get a better result.  All of their care coordinators are trained, coached, and supervised to ensure that they provide trauma-informed practices, are working from a social justice perspective and harm-reduction approach, and are using a brain science and resiliency informed framework.

CUPS (Calgary Urban Project Society) was recently featured in Alberta Views for their work on trauma and brain science.  https://albertaviews.ca/trauma-repair/
