From Trauma to Resilience: Fostering Hope Through Trauma-Informed Care

As we know, early life experiences are the foundational building blocks for development, learning, and health throughout a person’s lifetime. Trauma can have a long-term effect on well-being and functioning for children, adults, families, and our community.

Gundersen National Child Protection Training Center (Gundersen NCPTC) has developed a new training on adverse childhood experiences (ACE) and trauma-informed care (TIC).

Purpose

The purpose of this training is to increase the community’s collective ability to support individuals who have experienced traumatic events through the provision of supportive trauma-informed strategies and services.

What participants told us they learned:

  • TIC is a philosophical shift and not a diagnosis for PTSD
  • ACEs are prevalent across all economic levels
  • Trauma manifests into different behaviors than expected
  • Teachers should teach as if all students have ACE scores

Intended Audience

This training is designed for professionals who work with children and families, including educators and administrators, childcare providers, law enforcement, youth-serving organizations, health and human service providers, faith-based organizations, healthcare and victim advocates.

@Barbie Nall -

This training will not be available virtually in the near future. The way the training is structured there is a great amount of discussion and group work mixed in with the various presentations. However, with that being said we do have an on-demand webinar available, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study: Identify, Intervene and Interrupt.

I encourage you to check it out! It's free as well!!

This training looks awesome!  Do you think it may ever be available virtually?  My school district is not totally on board with ACEs yet, but I'm seeking additional training for myself and a few other teachers.  Of course, we are seeking something VERY inexpensive as our pay doesn't allow for any luxuries.

Thanks,

Barbie Nall
