Kresge Foundation
Human Services Program
Amount: up to $500,000 over 2 years
Deadline: January 15, 2019
As part of this initiative, Kresge will invest in those nonprofit organizations and public agencies working to advance the social and economic mobility (SEM) of families. The initiative is a two-year program consisting of three components: 1) leadership development; 2) development of a community of practice; and 3) the creation of organizational and cohort action plans designed to advance and accelerate SEM using a two-generation, whole-family approach. Grants of up to $500,000 over two years will be awarded to up to 10 human service organizations and/or agencies. As part of this initiative, grantees will participate in a learning and collaboration network that will include two meetings per year.
 
Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control 
Research Grants for Preventing Violence and Violence Related Injury (R01)
Amount: up to $350,000

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) is soliciting investigator-initiated research that will help expand and advance our understanding about what works to prevent violence that impacts children and youth, collectively referred to as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), including child abuse and neglect, teen dating violence, sexual violence, youth violence, and exposure to adult intimate partner violence. This initiative is intended to support the evaluation of primary prevention strategies, programs, or policies that target universal or selected high-risk populations. Funds are available to conduct such studies focused on preventing child abuse and neglect and at least one other form of violence affecting children and youth, including youth violence.
 
Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control 
Grants to Support New Investigators in Addressing Cross-Cutting Violence Prevention and Opioid Overdose Prevention
Amount: $80,000-$100,000

The National Center for Injury and Prevention Control (NCIPC) intends to provide support and 75% “protected time” for an intensive, supervised (mentored) career development experience to develop new researchers in the fields of opioid overdose prevention and cross-cutting violence prevention. The intent is to provide resources to young investigators so they can grow their skills by developing and conducting research efforts needed to address NCIPC Research Priorities (https://www.cdc.gov/injury/researchpriorities/index.html), with the potential to investigate new and emerging public health issues.
