Juvenile Court receives big honor

"Eleven years ago, the folks at the Pima County Juvenile Court Center recognized the need to provide extra help and accountability to drug-addicted parents accused of abusing and neglecting their children. They started up Family Drug Court, which requires parents to regularly meet with the judge, but also offers them intensive case management and trauma-informed, gender-specific treatment. The program also provides special counseling so parents and their kids can communicate with each other better and re-establish trust....β€œThis program is one of the best examples of collaboration between the court, Child Protective Services, behavioral health, attorneys and service providers. Most importantly, the parents, children and extended families are at the table through the entire process."
