Maine hosts Vincent Felitti in a week of ACE activities

Sue Mackey Andrews posted information in the State ACE Response Project group that Vincent Felitti will be in Maine this week. He'll meet with people from the THRIVE Initiative, which provides trainingstechnical assistance and consultation to youth and family-serving organizations and communities to strengthen the trauma-informed aspects of their practice.

On Wednesday, he'll work with physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants on the challenges of implementing ACEs in  primary care.

On Thursday, he'll do a presentation with a gathering of practitioners from several disciplines. Representative of some of Maine's ACEs pilot sites will appear on a panel to stimulate awareness of the efforts underway in Maine and how people can get connected.

Sandwiched in between all of these presentations will be a TV interview conducted by the Maine Cener for Economic Policy, for their "State of the State" show which goes out on cable and reaches more than 300,000 households in Maine.

Sue is chair of the Maine Health Accountability Team (MHAT), which promotes the prevention of ACEs statewide through training and  advocacy and comprises several community teams engaged in local initiatives focused on ACEs screening and prevention for expectant families and those with very young children.

This week's sessions were put together by MHAT, THRIVE, the Bingham Program, Maine General Hospital in Waterville, the Daniel Hanley Center and the Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
