In line with your tenth step to reduce the opioid crisis (“Provide prevention programs in our schools and communities, focusing on self-esteem and decision-making skills, starting in early childhood, and identifying and addressing “adverse childhood experiences” that contribute to substance-use disorders later.”), I want to make you aware of a program in Southern Oregon that fits precisely with your 10^th recommended step. 

The program is called ‘Superkid power’ created by Janai Mestrovich (MS, Early Childhood Learning) over a 40+ year period.  Janai has taught drug abuse prevention at Oregon State University and Southern Oregon University. Superkids are taught self responsibility, self respect and mutual respect along with collaboration and communication skills.  They learn to recognize stress and breathing exercises to manage it.  They learn what is their inner world they can control versus the external world they can’t.
