New members joining in August!

With new members joining ACEsConnection at an increased clip, I'll be doing bio round-ups by the week. Here are 12 people who joined the last week in August:

Shelly Holt, Mapleton, MN -- Shelly is a graduate student at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She's majoring in social work because she plans on becoming a therapist.

Janet Howerton, Tucson, AZ -- Janet is a licensed professional counselor.

Debra Wells, Hamilton, New Zealand -- Debra says that she's a "living example of ACE and am involved in training (from a service user perspective) and working to convince local and central agencies about the profound and urgent need to recognise and respond to ACE."

Rosaura Banda, Joliet, IL -- Rosaura is a registered nurse and a sexual assault nurse examiner at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.

Mario Alberto Ynga Durand, Mexico City, Mexico -- Mario is a pediatrician. According to an email he sent me, he works at the "National Institute of Paediatrics, prime referral centre of the country, as a collaborator in the Department of Adolescent Medicine. I am interested in the connection between ACE and nutritional disorders related to the neurodevelopment of the motivation neuronal circuits."

Deborah Bock, Anchorage, AK -- Deborah is a social worker.

Jacyln White, Sacramento, CA -- Jacyln is director of a the child care resource and referral program at Child Action, Inc. She works with families, children, and childcare providers.

Carol Albrecht, Clearwater, FL -- Carol, a licensed mental health counselor, is director of family counseling at Family Resources.

Susan Hess, Los Angeles, CA -- Susan is director of domestic violence programming at Echo Parenting and Education, and is on the adjunct faculty at the University of Southern California School of Social Work.

Elizabeth Eastlund, San Pedro, CA -- Elizabeth is a social worker at Rainbow Services.

Candace Peterson Kahn, Redondo Beach, CA -- Candace is a marriage and family therapist at Richstone Family Center.

Lois Garland, Twisp, WA -- Lois is a family advocate in the Methow Valley School District K-12. She says that she's  "interested in helping our district acknowlege the impact of ACEs on our struggling students. I would also like to see systemic changes which help build resiliency rather than punish affected students."
