Newsom's cradle-to-career plan for education is ambitious — and expensive [edsource.org]

 

Newly elected governor Gavin Newsom’s big campaign promises on education could cost billions of dollars if fully realized.

The governor-elect has pledged to establish a cradle-to-career system of education in California and made it a central tenet of his education platform.

To improve educational outcomes, the former San Francisco mayor argues that the state needs to begin offering services in early childhood with interventions continuing throughout school and college.

"Cradle" scares me...  The dyad is the best place for a baby.  Support for the mother (Nurse Family Partnership" is far more effective at breaking the chain of trauma.

Hi Laura, Supporting the mother baby dyad is critically important to both and NFP is one way to address the needs of high-risk families.  The C2C Education System in CA provides a more descriptive overview of what the C2C looks like across the lifespan.  I hope this link was as reassuring for you as it was for me.  Karen
