Police officers have new tool to help domestic violence victims VIDEO - New York

"Those on hand from the Police Department were first given background information on how the screening toll was created, how police can use it and then performed some role playing. When answering a domestic violence call, an officer will speak with a victim and ask them a series of questions about their relationship with their significant other, such as if they had been violent before or have made any serious threats.

If the officer feels the victim is in serious danger, he reaches out to an advocate from Unity House at any hour, informing them of the situation and attempting to get the victim on the phone with the advocate...."
