Report outlines need to effectively help abused children - Tennessee

"The Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth on Friday released their latest report on the health and well-being of children in the state.

"Called Kids Count: The State of the Child in Tennessee, it also focuses on the impact of child abuse and neglect, and the welfare system.

"The report stresses the importance of a supportive infrastructure to help vulnerable children develop successfully.

"What this report tells us is that when we respond effectively to adverse childhood experiences, we can really help children move beyond the damage. (Our services can) provide the right kind of therapy and the kind of services and support that help them succeed in school and in life," said Linda O'Neal, executive director of TCCY...."
