Sierra Health Foundation Announces Positive Youth Justice Initiative Grantees

"Sierra Health Foundation announces that six California counties have been selected as partners in the Positive Youth Justice Initiative. This initiative will support these six counties as they transform their local juvenile justice systems to improve the education, employment, social and health outcomes of crossover youth ― youth who have been formally involved in the child welfare system, have experienced documented neglect, abuse and/or trauma, and who currently are engaged in the juvenile justice system...."

"The grants will support these county systems (comprised of public agencies, nonprofits and community leaders) as they develop ways to integrate positive youth development supports and principles with an innovative behavioral health approach known as trauma-informed care. These approaches will then be delivered with a service model known as wraparound service delivery. A fourth design element in the initiative is intended to strengthen the local juvenile justice infrastructure by improving juvenile justice system policies and operational capacities."
