State Projects

The resources below provide information about states that are organizing state-level ACE task forces and/or trauma-informed projects. In some cases, links will just direct to state government resources that mention either ACEs, trauma-informed care, or both. This will provide minimal documented information as to what is going on in that state at the government level. An effort has been made to program these links in sort-by-date order but due to a technical problem this is not possible for some pages.

We strive for these resources to be the most useful for the ACEs Connection community. If you have resources that you'd like to add, please send a message to Jane Stevens, ACEsConnection manager.

This isn't complete; it's just a start. We are looking for the best resources that will assist people who are integrating trauma-informed practices into their state agencies and departments.

General Information on State ACEs Work

State ACE Surveys Infographic - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) listed the ACEs questions as an “Optional Module” for states and territories. This link provides slides showing the states that administered the ACEs Optional Module on their BRFSS questionnaire in 2009-2014.

IowaACEs360 - For information on states that have gathered data through the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS).

Adverse Childhood Experiences Reported by Adults --- Five States, 2009 - The CDC analyzed information from 26,229 adults in five states (Arkansas, California, Louisiana, New Mexico, Tennessee and Washington) using the 2009 ACE module of the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). This report describes the results of that analysis, which indicated that, overall, 59.4% of respondents reported having at least one ACE, and 8.7% reported five or more ACEs. Note data tables: Table 1 and Table 2. CDC. (2010).

Hi, Virgina -- Yes, it's updated regularly. The date of the post is when we first posted the blog. But we'll change the date to indicate the update. Thanks for the idea!

Cheers, Jane

Hi Jane, this is a great, comprehensive list! I was wondering if this has been updated at all since you posted in 2012? I am still familiarizing myself with this website. And if you have knowledge on a list of states that have TIC collaboratives / groups, that would be most appreciated. Thank you! - Victoria Walsh, vwalsh@texasstateofmind.org
