"Garfield County Child Advocacy Council is getting an early start on National Child Abuse Prevention Month with a program designed to increase awareness of and participation in preventing child abuse.

"The council has been working for several months to prepare a visual display of the county’s child abuse victims, to be displayed during National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April....

"This year, the council has enlisted the help of local students and artists to create 93 wooden child figurines — one for each confirmed victim of child abuse in the county last year...."
