The Power of Forgiveness

The Power of Forgiveness

Forgiveness has been monumental in my healing journey. In learning to forgive myself and others, particularly my transgressors, I have set myself free. Here are ways you can incorporate forgiveness into your life:

  • Meditation: I created a ten-minute forgiveness meditation video. Listen in here in order to begin your forgiveness journey. Or utilize other guided meditations via apps and YouTube. You can also use meditative prayer or free-flow meditation.
  • Journaling: This can be cathartic in that you are free to express your thoughts, feelings, desires and so much more without worry of judgment. Set it free! And in the process, you can start to ease your way into a place of forgiveness.
  • Letter-writing: Along the lines of journaling, however, with this you can choose to burn the letters of forgiveness you write to each individual, setting the energy free into the universe, or you can share the letters.
  • Sharing: By putting our stories out there into the world, we connect with others who "get it". The focus, however, needs to be on moving forward into forgiveness without becoming stuck in the negativity we must release in order to heal.
  • Talking: Whether we talk it out with the person with whom we need to forgive or a therapist or a trusted friend, talking can be a way to work through obstacles we might encounter, uncover previously unknown truths, and/or engage in reciprocal understanding.
More on the power of forgiveness will be available in my upcoming book: Unicorn Shadows - From Trauma to Triumph - A Healing Guide.

I like how you elaborated and laid it all out.  So many don't know what forgiveness entails. So many only relate to it as "forgiving others" when it's even more important that we come to forgive ourselves. Thank you!!

Thanks so much, Ruth. Learning to forgive myself was an even bigger task than learning to forgive others. The freedom found in forgiveness was truly life-altering.

Take care!
