The Relentless School Nurse: Using the Power of Social Media to Create Change

AFFIRM Research - American Foundation for Firearm Injury Reduction in Medicine is a non-profit corporation comprised of healthcare leaders and researchers who seek to end the epidemic of gun violence through research, innovation and evidence-based practice. - AFFIRM Research

Twitter has opened up a world of possibility to build a network of colleagues across sectors.  After Parkland I became much more outspoken on social media about the issue of gun violence as a public health crisis. In my social media activism, I connected with a group of physicians who were also speaking out about gun violence prevention.

I am honored to have been asked to write a blog from the perspective of a school nurse on the impact of gun violence in school for AFFIRM Research. Here is a link to the blog post: AFFIRM Perspectives: No More Empty Desks.

My deepest gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Megan Ranney for the opportunity to write a blog post for AFFIRM, Dr. Nikita Joshi for her expert editing skills, and Dr. Heather Sher for connecting us.

Please support the important research efforts of AFFIRM https://affirmresearch.org/strategy/

Together we can protect our children, communities, and friends against the epidemic of gun violence.

The public’s health is our job.  Help us get to work.

The American Foundation for Firearm Injury Reduction in Medicine is a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
