When Joe Mihevc’s mother fled Slovenia as a refugee after the Second World War, one of her most precious belongings was her bicycle.  It was so important, she even brought it on the boat with her to Canada, recalls Mihevc, city councillor for the new Ward 12 — Toronto-St. Paul’s. “As kids, we got paper routes and the first thing we did was buy a bike. It gave us mobility.”

Having 'fought' [two terms] in the 'War-On-Poverty' [without guns], before I started college, I was amazed to later hear it referred to as: "A Painfully timid assault on the consequences, rather than the causes, of human misery..." in college...
