The final session of the 2019 Summer Peacebuilding Institute (SPI) starts on June 10, 2019.

Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience (STAR), Level 1:  Explore processes and tools for addressing trauma, breaking cycles of violence, and building resilience. Increase awareness of the impact of trauma on the body, mind, beliefs, and behavior of individuals, communities, and societies. Discuss meta-level trauma awareness as well as personal/societal situations that have caused trauma and how to move forward (This is a five-day workshop ending June 14, 2019). Singing to the Lions: Helping Children Respond Effectively to Violence and Abuse: Become a facilitator who helps children overcome fear and violence in their lives. This experiential three-day workshop that is fun and active explains the use of games, drama, dance, and art to help trauma-affected children and young adults. Learn to lead activities and discuss adaptation to various settings around the world (This is a three-day workshop ending Wednesday, June 12, 2019). Click here for more information.

Building Resilience for Challenging Systemic Racism: A Trauma Healing Workshop for Activists and Allies: Explore and interpret the root causes of inequity and injustice in social policies and practices and acknowledge the traumatic effects of racial violence in our schools and communities. Use drumming, dance, and dramatization to engage in dialogue about how society is out of balance and how systemic racism permeates institutions and human interaction.
