The National Center for Juvenile Justice, the NCJFCJ's research division, has released the first in a new series of case-study publications supporting themes explored in the Juvenile Justice Geography, Policy, Practice, and Statistics website (JJGPS.org).
When Systems Collaborate provides case studies of three jurisdictions that coordinate information and services for youth who are involved in both the juvenile justice and child welfare systems (dual-status youth). The three jurisdictions profiled herein were selected based on a 50-state and District of Columbia survey and provide examples of promising cross-system efforts.
The first case study focuses on timely identification and screening of dual-status youth. The second example explores coordination of services for dual-status cases that are under community supervision or probation, while the third profile describes efforts in a state to improve reentry and aftercare services for this challenging population.
