Who are we? What's our interest in ACEs? Part 8

As people have joined the network, I've asked them to provide some information about their interest in ACEs. Here are another three: Rona Renner, Debra Palmer and Kathleen Kendall-Tackett. Some of the responses are shortened, so there's a link to their page to read more about them, friend them and/or send a message.

Rona Renner, Berkeley, CA -- Rona, who's been a nurse for 45 years, is a temperament counselor (trained at Kaiser in Richmond, Ca), a parent educator, and radio show host. She founded Childhood Matters Radio show in 2002, and Nuestros Niños in 2003. The live call-in shows cover health, education, behavior issues, child abuse prevention, sexual abuse, trauma, and other issues related to raising and teaching children. More info about Interactive Parenting Media at www.childhoodmatters.org. She looks forward to finding ideas for future shows here.

Debra Palmer, El Cajon, CA - Debra worked with Vince Felitti as a nurse practitioner in the 8o's and has applied his research to her personal and professional life. Her husband, who has been a child advocate and criminal defense attorney, notes how often his adult clients were his clients when they were children. "We all have a vested interest in lowering ACE scores, nurses and attorneys."

Kathleen Kendall-Tackett, Amarillo, TX -- Kathleen, a psychologist and CSA researcher in the 1980s, became interested in the impact of family violence on physical health in the mid-1990s. A list of her articles and books is on www.kathleenkendall-tackett.com. She also founded www.PraeclarusPress.com, a publishing company that focuses on women's health. She's written two books and edited four others. She's a founding associate editor of the journal Psychological Trauma, and a founding officer of the APA Division of Trauma Psychology. She's now writing the 2nd edition of her book, "Treating the Lifetime Health Effects of Childhood Victimization". She's also analyzing data, including ACE data, from a study of 6,410 new mothers.
