Whilst the truth can be painful to watch, if one didn't have the ideal situation, we now know that it's not just nutrition etc that's vital, but a mother-to-be needs to be in as supportive environment as possible, with manageable amounts of stress. Not rocket science anymore.

Again, pregnant mothers with high ACEs are so often in the exact opposite position of this.  No surprise, of course. Again, the unfairness of not even being able to start out on an equal footing, is just...  sad.  But it also means for those mothers to ensure they decrease (if it is in fact possible) the exposure to toxic people and/or situations etc.  It is so vital. So the awareness has to start earlier and the ability and necessity to protect yourself and your growing child.  A very big ask in some cases.  No pressure mothers-to-be!  But it is also the best time for reassessment of what you want for you and your child and to make these big changes, if one can.  One has an excuse not to see the toxic person: they need to protect!  And this protection shouldn't of course be only on the onus of the mother.  This is the father's (or partner's!)  job too.  In an ideal world!

It also seems like the cost we pay to be in our modern world. One step forward, one step...
