This is fantastic. Our culture and education system has SO far to go in implementing the practices Dr. Siegel advocates. At the end of this talk, he reminds us that when a child hears "no" repeatedly, they get into a reactive mode, while "yes" promotes the three "R's" - relationships, reflection and resilience.

Catherine, fyi, he's working with Goldie Hawn's foundation to get the message out to educators, etc. More info here: http://thehawnfoundation.org/about-us/ . Note their TEDtalk video at the bottom of the page. She calls the trademarked technique MindUp.

Thanks, Chris. When I see programs like MindUp focused on kids, it always make me think that the kids would benefit a lot if their parents would learn mindfulness skills. I'm hopeful that our understanding of the developmental needs and challenges of parents is improving.
