Self-Improvement Series at Bank Square Books in Mystic Connecticut

Dear ACEs friends and colleagues who live in Connecticut,

The way we deal with our own and our children's emotions correlates with how much or how little traumatic stress gets stuck in our bodies. The emotional scars ACEs leave can heal for 3 main reasons:

  1. the brain changes, which is what science calls neuroplasticity.
  2. Emotions are a catalyst for brain change and healing.
  3. Loving relationships are healing for the brain.

The Change Triangle is the best emotional health tool I know. It helps us understand how to prevent traumatic stress. It's also a guide to working with emotions for greater wellbeing, and to foster recovery from trauma. And I will share it on Sunday.

If you live in near Mystic, Connecticut, please join me this Sunday, February 10th at 2 PM. I'll be at Bank Square Books, a wonderful independent bookstore, talking about emotions and the Change Triangle, the subject of my new book It's Not Always Depression: Working the Change Triangle to Listen to the Body, Discover Core Emotions, and Connect With Your Authentic Self (Random House, 2018).

I hope you'll share emotion education forward. It's a game-changer for mental health and wellbeing. If you can't make the talk, please know there are many free resources on emotions, the Change Triangle, AEDP (the kind of psychotherapy I practice), trauma, and attachment on my website: hilaryjacobshendel.com.

Warmly,

Hilary
