Building Trauma-Sensitive Schools: Early Lessons from the Southland

Three years ago, teachers, administrators, and school support staff from three Southland school districts began to meet together to learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), childhood trauma and resilience. Since then, a total of seven school districts serving close to 16,000 children have worked to become “trauma-sensitive.” That pioneering work, facilitated by the Partnership for Resilience, is now bearing fruit and is profiled in a new report issued with the Harvard Education Redesign Lab: Early Lessons in Building Trauma-Sensitive Schools.

Join us at this conference as we hear from Susan Craig, one of the country’s leading authorities on trauma-informed education, and learn from the growing number of home-grown experts who are making a difference in area schools.
