Please join us for this year’s 23rd Annual Making Healthful Decisions conference on Tools for Growing Resilience for Schools, Health & Human Services, and for the Community at large. Below is a schedule of both days, Tuesday, December 8th and Wednesday, December 9th, 2020.

Thanks to our generous sponsor Garnet Health and the NYS Parenting Education Partnership there is no cost to attend this event. Registration is required. All sessions will be recorded, and all registered participants will receive a link to the recording a few days following the event. If you would like to attend both afternoon workshops, register for both and attend one as you will be able to view the recording of the second workshop later.

Day 1 Schedule:

Growing Tools for Resilience Panel Discussion:

When: Dec 8, 2020 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

This event will be facilitated by Darcie Miller, LCSW-R., Commissioner at the Orange County Department of Social Services, and the Department of Mental Health.

Panelists will discuss their efforts to integrate resilience-building approaches and strategies into their work, representing a variety of fields, including youth justice, health & human services, education, community organizations, and in faith-based organizations.

Participating panelists are:

Shalain Garcia, M.A. Criminal Justice Program Specialist for the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, Office of Youth Justice.

Tamaé Memole, M.S.Ed, Director of Program Development with Prevent Child Abuse New York. She is a nationally certified trainer for the Protective Factors Framework.

Nick Pantaleone, M.S.Ed, Assistant Superintendent Port Jervis School District.

Alicia Pointer, DO, MPH, FAAP, Chief of Pediatrics at Cornerstone Family Healthcare and Director of STAR Foster Health Program.

Love Odih Kumuyi, peacebuilding and conflict transformation practitioner, founder of Unsiloed, which provides research-driven approaches to build more connected and inclusive communities.

Bishop James A. Rollins, Sr. is the Founder and Sr. Pastor of “The Tabernacle” Church, a multi-cultural ministry in Middletown, NY.

Workshop with Love Odih Kumuyi: Tools for Communities

Day 2 Schedule:

Tools for Growing Resilience Keynote with Scarlett Lewis

When: Dec 9, 2020 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Scarlett Lewis founded the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement, after her son was murdered during the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in December 2012. Scarlett decided to be part of the solution to the issues in society and became an advocate for social and emotional learning which teaches children how to manage emotions, feel connected, and have healthy relationships. Scarlett travels across the United States and internationally. The Choose Love Enrichment Program has been downloaded in all 50 states and in nearly 90 countries.
