Race and Health in Sacramento Amid the Covid19 Pandemic Crisis

African American community leaders penned an open letter to Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, published in the Sacramento Observer, seeking support and resources to address health disparities exacerbated by the Covid19 pandemic crisis.

In the Sacramento area, the community with the highest rate of Covid19 infections is the Oak Park community, an historically African American community.

"COVID-19 issues impacting our communities range from the loss of employment/income, inadequate access to available testing, and a lack of effective community education regarding the virus and potential resources. It’s urgent that we push for the resources our community deserves."
