Schedule:

During this 3-hour interactive workshop, Melissa and Janise will facilitate a presentation, time for personal reflection, and voluntary activities to solidify learning and growth among participants.

Two fifteen minute breaks are provided.

There is no expectation that you have your camera to participate. We encourage you to show up in whatever way you are most comfortable.

Live ASL interpretation provided.

The workshop will be recorded and sent out to all registrants, along with additional resources, following the time together.

Topics Include:

  • Manifestations of Power and Control
  • Self-Awareness
  • Personal Responsibility and Empowerment
  • Developing meaningful, sustainable relationships
  • Shifting theory to practice


Melissa (they/she) is a passionate advocate for building collective and individual resilience, health, and wellbeing. They created Rise to Resilience to have a platform for sharing trauma-informed, connection-based strategies for educators and caregivers. Melissa has won a 2020 Bold Game Changer leadership award from the National Head Start Association.

Janise (she/her) is a mama of 3 beautiful children. She loves art, walks with her family & family activities. Janise shares: "I don’t really know how to describe my parenting style. I just try to listen to my kids, respect them and their opinions, while also having them understand that I am responsible for their safety and wellbeing. I learn and grow each and everyday when it comes to parenting." Janise hopes to one day travel the world with her family and explore what the world has to offer!
