Community Mentor Summit (San Diego, CA)

NOTE: $ 150 registration includes the following for both days (Admission to conference, Access to Exhibitors, Parking, Light Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks)

Community Mentors are engaging high risk, gang involved youth at multiple points along with the alternative to incarceration (ATI) continuum. In 2017, the Community Mentors with the assistance of Community Connections for Youth (CCFY) convened with juvenile justice systems stakeholders, HHSA East and Central Region, and Public Safety Group, social services and community organizations during a Community Mentor Training Institute to define community mentors, their work and impact on the community. The evidence based and trauma informed strategies of community mentors help to improve measurable health outcomes and promote health and wellness, equity and social interaction, and has garnered respect as a viable community resource. They have collaborated with juvenile justice systems stakeholders, social services and community organizations to reduce reliance on youth incarceration in Southeastern San Diego and City Heights.

The 2nd Annual Community Mentor Summit includes, but is not limited to the following partnerships: Alliant International University, C.A.S.T., Citizens Advisory Board, Commission on Gang Prevention & Intervention, Community Review Board, Community Wraparound, County of San Diego HHSA, Epiphany Women in Focus, Mothers with a Message, National Conflict Resolution Center, Paving Great Futures, Project A.W.A.R.E., Public Defenders Office, San Diego County Probation Department, San Diego District Attorney, San Diego Police Department, San Diego Sheriff’s Department, San Diego Unified School District, SAY San Diego, Union of Pan Asian Communities, University of San Diego, Youth Empowerment, and Youth Voice.

This conference will highlight the long standing work and legitimacy of Community Mentors with lived experience, past, present, and future. In an effort to align with the vision of the County and City of San Diego, we are looking to work in partnership with community partners to achieve healthy, safe, and thriving livable neighborhoods for generations to come. The summit will bring together individuals in the juvenile and criminal justice system, key juvenile justice leaders, government and civic leaders that contribute to Public Safety. Our objective is to replicate what other cities have achieved on a fiscal level.

Please join us in this effort by registering and participating in this dynamic two-day conference.

We look forward to having you join with other community partners to learn about the trailblazing work of Community Mentors in San Diego County.
