Corporal punishment in schools.

Ali 10, a student of Grade V in a public school, forgot his mathematics’ notebook at home and his teacher severely punished him with a stick. Now, he is afraid of going to school.

“In our school, physical punishment is a routine matter and almost every teacher punishes students in different ways,” Ali told to his father.

He wants to quit the school and tells his parents for admission in a private school but they cannot afford the fee.

Nearly 22.5 million Pakistani children are out of school, most of them girls, and corporal punishment remains a significant reason. Our government should act urgently to end abuse in schools and create a safe environment for children to learn without having to fear for their lives.

Apart from the above, my younger brother Bilal was not in a proper uniform as his trouser was torn. Instead the school teacher appreciates him that he wants to join his class. He insulted him and ask him to get out from the classroom.

My brother shared the story with me and he said I want to leave the school. As my brother was shocked and depressed, I support him and advised him to study at home and sit in the examination as a private student. He successfully passed the examination and I support him for higher studies in the United Kingdom. All my family members generate funds for Bilal and he completes his degree in Hospitality Management.

I still think if anyone had not supported Bilal then how would he have been today?.
