New Resources from the National Traumatic Stress Network

Last week, the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) hosted a webinar geared for educators.  The expert panel spoke about what schools and communities can do when there are allegations of sexual misconduct by an educator towards a student.

This webinar was a follow up to a fact sheet that was developed by the Child Sexual Abuse subcommittee of the NCTSN in response to a request from educators on how to handle sensitive situations in which a student(s) alleges sexual abuse by an educator or other school staff.  These situations are complicated and complex on a number of levels, and it is important to ensure privacy for the student, staff, and school as a whole.  It is critical to provide support and proper reporting/follow up for all parties involved.  The fact sheet, and webinar explore ways of handling a situation like this.

The webinar can be accessed here for free.  You will need to set up an NCTSN account, which is also free and links you to all the great resources the NCTSN provides (there are many!).

The fact sheet is attached to this blog post.  If anyone has difficult accessing either of these items, let me know and I can help!
