“PACEs

I have been a member of this site for about two years now, and I have been so impressed with the knowledge base of the members, and this entire site.

I would really like to schedule some live "chat" conversations - perhaps once a month, or once a quarter - for about 60-90 minutes per conversation.  If we did this, I would imagine that we would focus on a specific component of ACES in Education.

For example:

  • Identifying ACES in youth
  • Models that are working
  • Challenges that we are experiencing
  • Additional supports that are needed at a policy level
  • Funding for trauma informed practices in schools
  • Etc.

If we did this, would you be willing/able to participate? If so, how often should we schedule something like this? What would be the best time of day to schedule this, recognizing that we are in nearly every time zone in the world?

Please reply and let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Leisa

I'm interested, include me! I have been presenting to schools (South Texas, Region One Education Service Center) every chance I get! There are lots of resources that we can utilize for training from  Massachusettse, Wisconsin, and Washington, etc. In Texas with HB 1952 gives us a great opportunity to address principals on this topic!

I would also be very interested in participating in this dialogue.  I am currently working with several school districts in New York State and would love to learn from and share with others.  Thanks for getting this started.

I just joined today and would love to join.  I'm on mountain time and once school starts a the end of August it'll be nearly impossible to join the conversation during school hours (7:30-4) except on most Fridays when I can usually be at home.  I look forward to joining the conversation.

Hi Leisa and other members,

I am very excited about this opportunity for open discussion. I'm at EST+10. Although most of my childhood was spent in North Carolina I now live and work in the Kingdom of Bhutan. Child protection is an emergent topic here with the first legislation appearing in 2011 in conjunction with acceptance for the convention on the rights of the child. I'm looking forward to learning more about tangible practices for preventing childhood trauma, particularly at school, and concrete methods and practices for educators at all levels to move toward more holistic and nurturing learning environments.

Just let me know when the live chats will happen and I will make a best effort (electricity and net connections pending) to be involved!

Kind regards,

Cathryn
