ACEs-Savvy ADULT Primary Care Doc in Oakland or Richmond Kaiser?

Anna Runkle ·
Hi there -- I'm posting here on Ped community at the suggestion of a colleague who says this may be best way to find an adult primary care doc at Kaiser. I'm a passionate advocate for ACEs awareness, and a high-ACE-score kid who writes about childhood trauma. I'm also a Kaiser member in the Oakland/Richmond area, and I'm looking for a primary care doc who REALLY knows his/her stuff about emerging ACEs science. Happily, I am healthy today, but the health problems I've had in the past have...

The series has been developed in collaboration with therapists, educators, parents and healers and is designed to promote mental/social/emotional health, body positivity and imaginative play in kids 4-10 , with the ultimate goal of preventing self-hatred. Seeking trauma-informed medical care

Chris Simon ·
On the chance that someone here can offer a referral or advice, I'm looking for a trauma-informed medical doctor who can be my wife's Primary Care Physician. She is 39 years old and has gone without medical care for over 27 years as a result of her childhood trauma which involved severe neglect and long-term social isolation. I need to find a physician who is willing to communicate with me before her first appointment so I can fully explain her condition and what kind of approach will best...

Training Agency on Trauma and screening for ACEs

Jennifer Blacksmith ·
Hello! We are in the process of training all staff on trauma informed care, ACEs and screening for ACEs in our agency. I've presented on trauma and trauma informed care often, but I'm looking for a training video that talks about trauma, ACEs and screening for ACEs in a primary care setting. Does anyone know of a short-concise video that touches on these topics? A video that shows a role play of a provider and patient going through the ACEs screening and referral process would be ideal! FYI:...

Re: Seeking trauma-informed medical care

Veronique Mead ·
Dear Chris, I just saw your request and that you posted this question perhaps a year ago. Seeing no other comments I wanted to check in to see if you've found good care with someone who can connect well with your wife. I was once a family doctor and ended up retraining as a trauma therapist and specializing in chronic illness. If additional support is helpful I'd suggest your wife get support for healing some of these effects of trauma she has around events from childhood as they could make...

Trauma Informed PT/OT/Speech

Laura Crave ·
I'm wondering if folks are familiar with any resource or research for a trauma responsive approach to pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy? I know a passionate group who is beginning to integrate a trauma informed approach and would love to see what other work is being done!
