Dr. Melissa Merrick Explains CDC's Vital Signs/ACEs Report [Prevent Child Abuse America]

Dr. Melissa Merrick, president & CEO of Prevent Child Abuse America, provides four key takeaways from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest Vital Signs/ACEs report, of which she is the lead author.

Merrick also identifies several practical solutions for creating the conditions for safe, stable and nurturing relationships and environments for all children, families and communities, which are fundamental to preventing ACEs. Among these solutions is strengthening economic supports for families, such as family-friendly work policies, like paid leave and flexible work schedules, and earned income tax credits.

Quote: "creating the *conditions* for safe, stable and nurturing relationships and environments for all children, families and communities, which are fundamental to preventing ACEs." Oh boy!  Hoo-ray! Just one problem, the one core condition needed is hinted at but NOT DIRECTLY ADDRESSED. Trauma theory even explains why this ONE SIMPLE and OBVIOUS condition is NEVER explicitly stated in our clearly fully Trauma-organized culture - PERPETRATING VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN - MODELING VIOLENCE TO CHILDREN -TRAINING CHILDREN TO VIOLENCE. The REASON the CORE issue of VIOLENCE is NOT addressed is because WE and the AUTHOR suffrt Traumatic re-enactment and repetition leading to learned helplessness and a Stockholm-syndrome like incapacity to change - without the aithors realizing it, she (and society) NEED this Violence and the chaos it brings and this NEED is why the violence continues. ENOUGH!

Embrace truth:

ZERO PUNISHMENT!

MANKIND IS NOT INHERENTLY EVIL!

Violence is a BLIGHT upon our Human Nature, NOT PART OF IT.

Please...

IT IS NOW HARD SCIENCE FACT - We KNOW the conditions we need to END the ACEs epidemic: We must STOP PERPETRATING VIOLENCE ON CHILDREN - we must stop justifying it by claiming it is corrective justice, punishment, discipline, or consequences - and we must START SPEAKING OF THE REAL SOLUTION - ZERO PUNISHMENT & ZERO VIOLENCE. Currently, many, 80% in some regions, cannot even voice the phrase "zero punishment" without great confusion and concern. We have the solution - our own trauma organized dystopically altered perceptions and fears cause us to be unable to literally even say the words...

Zero Punishment. Big-sigh.

The well-meaning Dr. Merrick, as are we all, is clearly still captive to the trauma-syndrome when she continues, "Among these *solutions* is..."

(Sigh.)

Look up the definitions for "solution."

None of the things mentioned remotely qualifies as a "solution" to end the still UN-ACKNOWLEDGED ACEs EPIDEMIC.

Here is a good list of things that are HUGELY beneficial but clearly are NOT solutions: "strengthening economic supports for families, such as family-friendly work policies, like paid leave and flexible work schedules, and earned income tax credits."

We "love" our trauma organized ways... it is time we let go and move on, for the sake of our children that have demanded we act...

begin now... say it... make it so...

zero punishment. Say "zero punishment" over and over onside your head until it no longer grates and feels natural and comfortable to say out loud - then speak these simple words at EVERY available opportunity and do it consciously and with full awareness of exactly WHY you do so - it is because SEVENTEEN STUDENTS murdered in Parkland, FL led to millions of CHILDREN literally MARCHING FOR THEIR LIVES and this is NOT OKAY - and because ONE IN THREE CHILDREN ARE ABUSED/NEGLECTED  BY AGE EIGHTEEN IS NOT OKAY!

Okay?

Zero-

Punishment.

Got it?
