California PACEs Action

Advocating for healing-centered schools [cachildrentrust.org]

From California Children's Trust, July 10, 2020

California Children’s Trust, and its partners, are making the case for policies and practices acknowledging the “Persistent Traumatic Stress Environment” (framing provided by Dr. Shawn Ginwright) our children and youth are experiencing. We invite you to listen to these recordings, and hear from behavioral health, education and social justice leaders with both inspirational messages and concrete proposals that reimagine our children’s behavioral health system.

If you weren’t able to join us for two recent webinars, we invite you to learn more.

At the July 1 NCG Funders Forum, Alex Briscoe from the California Children’s Trust (CCT), and education and social justice leaders, including Dr. Shawn Ginwright of the Flourish Agenda, Kyla Johnson-Trammell, Superintendent, Oakland Unified School District; Socorro Shiels, Superintendent, Sonoma Valley Unified School District, and Tony Thurmond, State Superintendent of Instruction, presented solutions and discussed ideas on the topic of "Creating and Funding Healing-Centered Schools: The Time is Now.”

Review the presentation and listen to the webinar.
